This illustration was published in Issue 3 of QUTE Magazine in 2009, as a response to their brief on the theme of future. Confusion Reigns is an optical illusion that can only be read at a far enough distance away. Get too close and all that can be seen is a collection of rain drops. Moving further away from the illustration reveals a message hidden within the rain drops. This double view mirrors student’s fears about the future and the way that they will often focus too closely on the short-term future and not step back and look at the longer term big picture.
